Well, they changed the sound engine. Since then some people have been experiencing problems with the game. I suggest trying the -nosound switch first. This will rule out the problem being your sound hardware if it doesn't fix your problem. Also try to update your sound drivers if you haven't done so already.

The buzzing noise makes me pretty sure it's a sound related issue.

If this doesn't work i'm sure someone else might have an idea of what the problem is.

Also full system specs including hardware, Av programs, firewalls and OS would help too.

Well, let's try to narrow it down:

Does it happen randomly or in specific situations or game locations?

I had<have> a similar problem with crashes since the big update. But, it only occurs in a specific in-game location.

After working with Support, it appears to be triggered by an unknown something in the game environment causing my system to crash.

Some basic things to try:

-Ensure your game is fully updated

-force DirectSound <if your system supports it by using the -dsound switch in the command line

-defrag your GW.DAT

-for testing stability stop overclocking entirely on your system

-ensure DirectX is current

Now, none of these solved my problem, but your mileage may vary and these things also serve to clear the table before contacting support.
